Gone Fishin’

Spent a relaxing night out on the lake with my Grandpa fishing. The fish weren’t really biting, but I didn’t mind.
Mother Nature and my Grandpa’s company were all I needed.

The Cottage in Nags Head.

Jenn and I spent a great Thanksgiving back in Virginia with her family and now we’re down in Nags Head at the cottage her grandparents own. I must be getting old or something, but I can’t wait to go out tomorrow and buy a tree. This place is so charming I’ve completely forgotten the fact that I’m from Minnesota and in years past would cringe at the idea of a Christmas without snow. It’s amazing what having the ocean right outside your window can do to persuade your opinion of things.
Even better than the Atlantic in the backyard is the character of the cottage. Here’s the start of a short essay I hope to do on it:

From bridge to bridge.

Over the weekend I grabbed a snapshot of the Golden Gate Bridge and yesterday via instant messenger I learned from my mom that the I-35W bridge in Minneapolis came crumbling down.
Still calling Minnesota home even if I haven’t lived there for the past two years I can’t help but feel homesick and wish I was with the people I care about most.
Later this afternoon I came across this entry on Alec’s blog about Zuma Press. In a press release Zuma announces, in a not so subtle way, that they have pictures from the tragedy for sell.
Zuma sent this press release out:
Breaking News!
EXCLUSIVE IMAGE! Freeway bridge collapses into Mississippi River during rush hour in Minneapolis, with at least six people are dead, dozens more are injured, some critically. The Interstate 35 bridge, under repair between St. Paul and Minneapolis, breaks into several huge sections and falls into the water with vehicles. An estimated 50 vehicles plunged into the water and onto the land below.RESTRICTIONS: USA Tabloid RIGHTS OUT! Mags and TV Call 949.481.3747 For Price !!
If I was a cartoon character you’d see a ton of #$%$# floating above my head with how I feel about Zuma. As the PDN blog entry points out they used a total of 5 exclamation points in a situation that demands none.
The Zuma PR department could use a lesson in humanity and a first-hand experience of MN nice.

Camping under the stars.

Jenn and I spent the last portion of our road trip roaming Utah and the Arches National Park area. This was just one of the many highlights of the trip. There was so much beauty to behold that these pictures don’t do the experience justice. From the glow of the stars to the seductive sounds of a flowing river there was a lot for your senses to experience. I miss it already. I’ll post more poloroids from the trip later on, which also happen to be my favorite images from the trip.
The view that awoke us.

Road Trip Day 1

Thanks to my Blackberry I’m writing this post to the hummm of our tires zipping across the open plains they call Kansas. Jenn and I are on day two of our trip out to Salt Lake City. We hope to end up in Denver later today and with Jenn’s Nascar inspired driving that shouldn’t be a problem. Here are a few Polaroid snapshots we’ve taken on our trip so far. I’ll try to post more later assuming I have service on my cell phone.
