Winter ice surfing was one of the first story ideas on my never ending list of personal projects I have wanted to work on ever since moving back to Minnesota. Finally, thanks to an assignment, I actually found myself photographing surfers braving the icy cold waters of Lake Superior. I love photographing Lake Superior but throw in fresh snow from a blizzard and some dedicated surfers and you have yourself the makings of one epic photo assignment.
